Westtown School is a Quaker, co-educational, college preparatory day and boarding school for pre-K through twelfth grades. A renovation and expansion of the 1975 science building doubled its square footage to 36,000 square feet, making it possible for all Middle and Upper School science classes to meet in the same building for the first time.
The Science Center design features a new entrance, lobby, labs, classrooms, and faculty offices. The building – designed with sustainable strategies such as rainwater harvesting, solar hot water heating, and a ground-coupled heat pump system – serves as a learning tool for active student engagement via hands-on investigation and experimentation.
BBA provided engineering design for the award-winning, LEED Gold certified project.
