The stately Nemours Mansion and Gardens has earned a new award, to add to its previous three. On November 9, 2016, Robinson Anderson Summers (RAS) Landscape Architects received the Trumbauer Award for Landscape Architecture & Design from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA).
Our History with Nemours
BBA was honored to be part of the design team chosen by John Milner Architects that renovated the1909-1910 home and gardens of the A.I. duPont family. Our work included replacing the electrical system, installing a new fire suppression system, and upgrading the HVAC and environmental control system. Our mission was to maintain the beauty and historic integrity of the mansion and gardens.
When the restored museum and gardens re-opened in 2008, it sported an aspirating, early-warning smoke-detection system, a misting fire-suppression system, and a chilled-water/hot-water HVAC system. We succeeded in providing 21st century comfort and protection to visitors, collections, and the structure with minimal visual impact.
